Let there be enlightenment

“Prejudices are what fools use for reason.”

“It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong”

“Opinion has caused more trouble on this little earth than plagues or earthquakes”

“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.”

“Life is thickly sown with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to pass quickly through them. The longer we dwell on our misfortunes, the greater is their power to harm us.”

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”

“The true triumph of reason is that it enables us to get along with those who do not possess it.”

“Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road”

“Common sense is not so common.”

Happy birthday Voltaire. Thank you for showing us the “light” and putting some perspective on man kind and the way in which we live our life.  It is in these dark times that we need to look to the past and evaluate the present in order to forge a better future.
